Behavior and failure of materials and structures submitted to uni-axial and multi-axial loadings on large range of plastic strains and strain rates. This includes the development of new testing methods and procedures to understand the physics at various scales. For that, high speed loading tests on hydraulic jacks and Hopkinson’s bars devices (tension/compression) with high speed imaging and micro-CT are carried out.
For structural crashworthiness application, materials and structures of concerns are metallic materials, cellular materials and jointing systems (rivets, spot-welds, …). For application to biomechanics of impact and trauma prediction, the behavior of hard human tissues (cortical and trabecular bones) is also investigated.
