Duarte ARAUJO

Assistant Professor, Université de Lisbonne (Portugal)

Duarte ARAUJO has his PhD in Sport Sciences with dissertation in Sport Psychology by Faculty of Human Kinetics - Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal, where he is now Assistant Professor.

His research involves the study of expert decision-making in sport, which led to him receiving a young researcher awards at the European College of Sport Science in 2001 and at the Association des Chercheurs en Activités Physiques et Sportives (ACAPS) in 2002.

He was elected as a member of the managing council of the International Society of Sport Psychology in 2001-2005, and has been Editor of the Bulletin Board of the International Journal of Sport (and Exercise) Psychology.

He is a founder of the European Network of Young Specialists in Sport Psychology. He has been coordinating coaches’ education in sport psychology for the Portuguese Federations of Soccer, Golf and Sailing.

He wrote many articles and books about decision making in sport, and he was invited to teach and to give talks on this topic in several countries.

In 2005, he edited, with Tom Reilly and Jan Cabri the Proceedings of the Vth World Congress on Science and Football.
