CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue of Computers & Operations Research
“Scheduling in Manufacturing Systems”
Special Issue Editors:
Alexander A. Lazarev, Institute of Control Sciences, Moscow, Russia
Vincent T’Kindt, University of Tours, Tours, France
Frank Werner, Otto-von-Guericke-University, Magdeburg, Germany
This special issue intends to give the state-of-the-art of scheduling research that satisfies practical
needs of modern manufacturing and resource planning. Interdisciplinary methodologies may be given,
based on advanced scheduling and combinatorial optimization techniques, in order to provide efficient
solution procedures for practical scheduling problems. The aim of this issue is to attract high-quality
papers representing the most recent developments of models and solution techniques used for scheduling
in manufacturing systems which include parallel as well as multi-stage facilities, coordinating scheduling
with transportation decisions, and scheduling in segments of a supply chain. Submitted papers
have to comply with the philosophy of the journal: they have to contain a substantial computational
evaluation and interesting algorithmic aspects. Potential topics include but are not limited to:
• grouping and sequencing operations in multi-stage systems
• scheduling in flexible shops
• scheduling with precedence constraints, batching, setups and further technological constraints either
with a single (regular or non-regular) and multi-criteria objectives
• scheduling heuristics
• robust scheduling
• robotic cells
• scheduling in parallel computing and grids
• scheduling in segments of a supply chain
Refereeing process:
Authors should submit their paper via EES http://www.ees.elsevier.com/cor and select ”Special
Issue: Scheduling in Manufacturing Systems” when asked to indicate the ”Article Type” in the submission
process. It is recommended that a paper does not exceed 20 pages.
Submitted papers should not have have been previously published nor be currently under consideration
for publication elsewhere. Refereeing and the selection of papers will be carried out according to the
standards of Computers & Operations Research.
Important Dates:
Deadline for submissions: October 31, 2009.
Notification of acceptance: September 1, 2010.
